It was a who’s-who at Vancouver’s legendary Commodore Ballroom November 19th, as an incredible line-up of Canadian musicians gathered to pay tribute to Mr. John Mann, front man of the beloved Spirit of the West.
Spirit of Canada a Tribute to John Mann was the consideration of many of John Mann’s dearest friends and colleagues from the Canadian music industry. Everything from the musicians, the venue, the stage crew and the ticket sales, were provided pro bono. The line up of musicians was nothing short of stellar with performances by Sarah McLachlan, Alan Doyle, Barney Bentall, Jim Cuddy, Barenaked Ladies, Colin James, Jim Bynes, Odds and many many more!
The INNERface’s Jesse Day had exclusive access to speak with a number of performers throughout the evening. We were definitely taken by the support and the sense of community, as they came together from all over the country with adoration for John and empathy for his unfortunate fate with Alzheimers.
The entire night was an filled with an electric vibe and we were happy to have the opportunity to capture some of that here.

Most fans of Canadian folk-rock band Spirit of the West are aware of the Early Onset Alzheimer’s that John Mann has been courageously living with for several years. John’s future is full of uncertainties and difficulties. This site is for us to pitch together as a community to help facilitate John’s ongoing care and to raise awareness of the disease.
